I would love to have a laser cutter for cutting wood and heavier projects. However, the extremely high price tag for personal crafting purposes makes the laser cutter still a dream for me. If you are selling your cuts, and production demands get greater, you might want to consider the use of a laser cutter. I know that many use CorelDraw for creating files for cutting on laser cutters.
