Hi Eric,
I have also been interested in purchasing a cutter, and also unsure of which would be the best purchase. I have only had experience with the Craft Robo (£180). It's an impressive bit of kit, however to look at it you wouldn't think do. It's really light, too light to believe it to be of any use!! Build is very plastic. It's also pretty noisy. Plugs straight into Adobe Illustrator. Setting up was easy. The model was A4, around 210mm wide, so probably not wide enough for your requirements. The output is fantastic. We got some very intricate designs coming out. Surprisingly good. Not sure on replacement blades and backing board costs though.
