[Oa] How to attach pop-up (180 ° ) model to the base ?

I'm beginner in pop-up 180°. My question about attaching methods. I found the following: "Attach the finished model onto the base with pieces of thread at each of the dots as shown." Are there another ways to attach model? Can you describe your methods in step-by-step style?
